EP REVIEW:

3 piece Alternative Rock band “This is She” releases their latest 6 song EP entitled Nobody is OK in 2012. Band members include Alana Grace (Vocals), Ryan Folden (Drums), and Christian Grace Meadows (Guitar). The band has performed on the 2009 Warp Tour and has future plans to play Summerfest and to share the stage with Cobra Starship.

The EP kicks things off with “Grow Up” a mesmerizing intro piece that sets the stage rather appropriately for this catalogue of music. This first piece wastes no time getting things off the ground with its pulsating rhythm, hooky musical flow against a grand mosaic of exotic soundscapes and an infectious vocal front from Grace. Track 2 entitled “Ghost” shifts gears with it’s smooth as silk groove against heartfelt vocals and impressive vocal harmonies from Grace and company. I would describe this impressive follow pieces captivating and mesmerizing. Track 3 “Disobey” keeps things moving with its thought provoking lyrical content, thick low end grove against impressive guitar ambience that flows and ebbs its way though to emotional fruition. As the EP slowly unfolds I can hear many different musical textures reminiscent of Ace of Base, Garbage, Martika, No Doubt, Pink and even Evanescence. The music is extremely melodic but definitely brings to the table a lot of musical variety and much in the way of hooky melodies, sonic sound effects and catchy musical format. You will notice rich musical textures overflowing everywhere - from rocking rhythm guitar, to dynamic musical flow, think low end rhythms and beats against lush harmonies all built upon a solid rhythm section. The vocal abilities from Alana Grace works extremely well within the confines of this catalog. Make no bones about it she‘s an impressive front woman (vocals and visuals) and delivers much in the way of emotion, reckless abandon and a seductive persona. All band members play their parts extremely well song for song and note for note. Kudos goes out to the top flight production value and impressive vocal presence from Alana Grace. Let me go on record to say there's not a dull moment on the entire EP. The EP ends with the striking the title track and Track 5 “Brace Myself” the perfect finale statements for an EP of this caliber.

It’s hard to find any noticeable weaknesses with this EP no doubt. Typically I don’t give out 10 star ratings to EP releases. The full length release is the most complete musical snapshot to judge an artist by.

From start to finish Nobody is Ok EP sample from “ This is She” is a rock solid musical teaser from start to finish. It’s an extremely consistent, catchy, and highly melodic. Its strength - it’s just a blast to listen to with songs that are extremely catchy, and extremely marketable. The music will grab the listener refusing to let go. All in all This is She combine amazing songwriting with top flight production touches and entertaining songs that will have you wanting more.  Bring on the Full Length CD already!
