I recently had the privilege of reviewing the latest CD by Steve Oliver entitled "Global Kiss." Song for song, note for note “Global Kiss” is an impressive musical production from start to finish. Each song is a short & sweet musical experience never to short, never to winded. Each one possessing a unique musical personality & signature groove to call it’s own. Smooth Jazz fans will love this CD as it fills the sonic space peacefully & unobtrusively. Sure the music is overly synthetic, the performances are primarily basic rock based 4/4 rhythms – but hey that’s smooth jazz folks. Along the way you will catch brilliant flashes of amazing musicianship & world class songwriting as well. Bands like The Rippingtons, Joe Sample, The Jazzmasters & yes even Steve Oliver get a lot of credit from me as they take the edge of a million or so elevator rides around the world each & every day. They live for moments like this & we love them every second for it.

IMD I was really impressed with your latest CD “Global Kiss.” Could you tell us little about the title & what inspired the actual name “Global Kiss”?

SO Thanks, I did a tour in Europe, Germany, Spain, London, Asia, and was inspired by all the different cultures musically, and I have always been a fan of world music so I wanted to write and  record an album thinking of my version of world music.  Being the positive person I am I came up with title Global Kiss thinking about the world in general, The world needs a global kiss right now. That was my thought.

IMD Steve how long have you been playing guitar?
