Missouri based Singer-Songwriter, Guitarist Sterling Witt just released his latest CD “Sterling Loves U” Witt has been described as a man who plays his guitar upside down and backwards.  How Interesting.

The CD kicks things off with “Perfect Girl” a slamming rock groove ditty that serves up rocking guitars, driving rock rhythm against no holds barred vocal delivery and clever lyrical content. Track 2 “Help Yourself”  shifts gears a bit with heartfelt vocal delivery meshed with rocking guitar driven groove that flows and ebbs it’s way though to emotional fruition. Track 3 “Hollow Moon” keeps things moving with its dynamic guitar ambience, impressive vocal feel and compelling lyrical content.  As the CD quickly unfolds I can hear influences ranging from Violent Femmes, Jed, Beck, to Elliot  Smith, The Shins and even They Might be Giants to Weezer. The music has everything you would expect from a melodic guitar driven Alternative Rock CD. The vocals are effective, melodic and straight forward. The acoustic guitar playing is conservative yet hot to the touch. There are also touches of Ska, Surfer Rock, and Classic Jam band but with a 70’s Psychedelic-Rock flair. Witt’s vocal style is intoxication and works extremely well with this style of music. I might add his timing is spot on and his vocal intensity strives to not try to hard – dead in the pocket. Rhythm section - lays down the low end groove thick as a brick. What I like most about the music is its sheer easy going groove and song for song vibe. By track 5 the CD hits solid stride dishing out many impressive songs in a row. This latest CD from Witt delivers 12 tracks all providing an interesting snapshot of an amazing artist with thought provoking lyrical wisdom with messages that are entertaining, passionate and extremely laid back and comical. From grooving “You’re the One” to rocking “Built By Design” to hypnotic “Every Single Second” to mesmerizing” Sedona” to uplifting “You are my Sunshine” to jumping ”Be Free” this CD pretty much has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with Track 12 “Carrie Annes Birthday Song” the perfect finale statement for a CD of this caliber.

It’s hard to find any noticeable weaknesses with a CD of this caliber.  3-4 songs feel like incomplete statements to me.

This latest release from Witt is a rock solid musical statement from start to finish. It's strength – the strong song for song consistency and impressive songwriting touch that keeps coming at you. There’s not a weak song on this entire catalogue period! The musicianship is first rate, the songs are short and sweet musical experiences and Witt is an infectious artists who is a master at satirical humor through music. Et me go on record by saying this is one of the best CD's to slide across my desk this year. Sterling Witt is comparable to the Violent Femmes on Steroids. Each song possesses a unique personality, flair, and signature groove - vintage Witt. The music is rock solid, grooving and will get you jumping. What am I trying to say? Sterling Witt rocks the house that’s what!
