Los Angeles based sister Group Petrel just released their debut single entitled Bombshell in 2012. The group consists of Jess (Lead Vocals), Bekeh (Keyboards and Drums) and Destiny (Guitar). The song, which chronicles a true story of boyfriend betrayal that every girl can relate to, was recorded with world renowned producer Brian Howes (Hinder, Boys Like Girls, Nickelback).

Logging in at (3:25) “Bombshell” kicks off with a quick chorus teaser evolving into a methodical sonic layering intro, coupled with driving rhythm and amazing musical build. Enter the passionate vocal delivery of Jess and we begin to get a clearer understanding of what Petrel is all about. The music itself goes down smooth but is extremely hooky, entertaining and possesses vivid soundscapes reminiscent of Pink, Katy Perry and Brittany Spears. But getting back to these three sisters – all three clearly have the goods (Audio and Visual) to win over a huge fanbase this Summer. In fact the more I listen to Petrel the more I begin to realize they are a new band that transcends all the stereotypical pigeonholing. The passionate chorus of “Bobshell” hits you full force leaving a lasting impression with it’s mesmerizing groove, amazing harmonies and hypnotic melody. The musicianship or the band itself is rock solid across the board as this 3 piece dishes out a short but sweet musical statement - not to short, yet not to winded. Equally as impressive is the bridge leading you by the hand into a grand slam vocal finale. All in all it's an action packed 3 and a half minutes of music that packs a powerful punch.

"Bombshell" is an impressive snapshot of music and shows what this girl band (originally from Long Island is capable of.  It clearly possesses all the trademarks of a hit waiting to happen, and will definitely add fuel to the fire this Summer. Petrel posses a solid sound, marketable look, sound and image. So far Petrel has proven themselves with this melodic, yet hooky Dance-Pop groove. Petrel is no doubt a force to be reckoned with in 2012 with the assistance or renowned Manager Johnny Wright (NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, Brittany Spears). I look forward to checking out the full length hopefully later on this  this Summer. What else can I say - it's a bombshell of a release.
