EP REVIEW:

Portuguese band The Noidz releases their latest EP Trancemetal Age in 2011. Band members inclue Zork, Monkka, Dr, Zee, Adion, & Lunattika.

The EP kicks things off with ďO Pastorď an intro piece that sets the stage rather appropriately for this catalogue of music.  After a methodical intro this first piece explodes in your ears with pulsating rock rhythm, against distorted guitar, catchy vocals against a grand mosaic of exotic soundscapes & melodies. Track 2 entitled ďRoot Sounds from EarthĒ serves up a steady bass driven vibe against Celtic melody & musical layering that can be described as captivating, mesmerizing & infectious. Track 3 ďBlast Waves explodes with sinister vibe with everything from impressive guitar & double bass chops, to pulsating keyboard & synthesizer accents with exotic layers of sound that come at you from all directions. As the EP slowly unfolds I can hear many different musical textures reminiscent of classic Euro techno meshed with electronica & dub out/ chill type musical textures with perhaps a splash of Industrial, power pop & even hard rock. The music is extremely melodic but definitely brings to the table a lot of musical variety, originality & a high degree of unpredictability. The Noidz brings to the table a wide range of instrumentation. You will notice rich musical textures overflowing everywhere - from guitar ambience, sizzling guitar pyrotechnics, driving electronic drums, to pulsating bass meshed with synthesizers & impressive & keyboard accents. The vocal abilities from Monnka fill the sonic space quite well & mesh well with this catalogue of music. The sonic overdubbing is packed to the hilt, & is chopped full of exotic soundscapes that lunge at you from every direction. There's not a dull moment on the entire EP. The melodic layering is deep, the sonic ambience is infectious, & the music is from another galaxy.

This is a solid EP release I only wish there were say 2-or 3 more tracks on it to really seal the deal for me. When compared to other EPís out there right now itís fair to say itís a bit short sided. Iím also not a big fan of extreme left & right pans as displayed in the mix on track 2.

From start to finish Trancemetal Age by Noidz is a solid EP release. Itís extremely consistent, original, & very melodic. Itís strength - its amazing songwriting, originality, & rich sonic layering. Make no bones about it these are 5 cutting edge  talented composers & performers. When the ride is over you will be dazzled by its originality, overwhelmed by its mystery, & mesmerized by its diversity.
