CD REVIEW:

Luna Achiary (born 24 September 1989) is an Italian-French musician, singer and songwriter. Her musical knowledge derives from her mother, a jazz singer and vocal coach, and her father, an opera tenor. She writes mainly on guitar and piano, playing other instruments as and where required. Her music comes from multiple influences and genres, mostly progressive rock, alternative, metal and jazz. Luna released two projects, “Till the Instinct Wins” EP in 2011 and “More Human than God” full length album in 2013. She is currently working on videos and other musical art to be released soon.

The CD kicks things off with the “Mistress” a dynamic intro piece that serves up inviting instrumentation, well-crafted melody and warm vocal presence from Achiary. This first track is comparable to a warm blanket or inviting welcoming mat. Track 2 “Obsession” shifts gears a bit with its rocked out rhythm guitar painted against impressive musical build, heartfelt vocal delivery and grand slam solo. Track 3: “Light Side of the Moon” showcases even more songwriting brilliance from Achiary. This piece delivers flawless vocal presence and well placed ambient guitar accents that flows and ebbs it’s way through to emotional fruition. As the CD slowly unfolds I can hear many musical textures reminiscent of classic vocal acts as Alanis Morisette, Sara McLachlin, Evanescence, Tori Amos, Amy Grant, Suzanne Vega and even Edie Brickell to Tori Amos. The music itself combines classic elements of earthy Folk Rock with an aftertaste of Alternative Rock, Soul and even Epic Pop to Celtic Rock. The musicianship of everyone involved is clearly above the bar. You will also notice lush layers musical instrumentation layered everywhere which besides the 4 piece standard includes impressive guitar chops, piano, electronic ambient accents, amazing rhythm section, well placed percussive accents, impressive piano and keyboard chops and well placed vocal harmonies layered everywhere. The CD has some truly impressive moments on it showcasing impressive songwriting, world class instrumentation via Achiary’s honey coated vocal delivery. Zeroing in now on Achiary – her voice goes down smooth as she makes the vital (singer to listener) emotional connection. Achiary can hold your attention well during some of the CD’s solitary moments. This is not as easy as it sounds and when done properly will stop you I your tracks. Achiary executes the pin drop moments well clearly proving she is an artist worthy of your attention and praise. From Melodic “First Love” to heartfelt “Friends” and “Against the Wind” to dynamic “Go Further” and Under the Leaf” to striking “Guilty” upbeat this CD has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with Track 13 “More Human Than God” the perfect finale statement for a CD of this caliber.

It’s had to find any real noticeable weaknesses with this CD. All songs over 3.5 minutes tend to drag you to the finish line

From start to “More Human than God is an amazing collection of music by Luna Achiary  Note for note, song for song there isn’t really a weak piece on this entire catalogue. All pieces are short and sweet musical experiences, each one possessing its own signature groove and musical personality to call its own. The writing and playing abilities of this band are rock solid, the catalogue is highly diversified, progressive and dynamic. Last but not least the vocal presence and amazing songwriting abilities of Luna Achiary just makes the whole thing work. She is infectious artists that knows how to sing you a song, and occupy a special place in your heart with her amazing artistry.
