Love Jupiter is an interesting 5 piece rock band from Brooklyn, New York. Band members are: Matt Adamec - Vocals, Bass, Michael “Chickie” Ciulla - Vocals, Guitar, Bob DeRienzo – Drums and Mark Goetz - Vocals, Guitar. Their mission: To create music that allowed me to express a desire to reside in some barely cozy place. Maybe not far from boring, but not completely insane yet deep enough to stretch my legs but also shallow enough for me to somehow breathe. A record that would allow the listener to move forward without looking back.

The CD quickly takes to flight with rocking intro piece “Everything is All Right.” This song serves up infectious rocked out guitars painted against mesmerizing vocals, hypnotic lyrical content and dynamic rhythms that quickly lead you by the hand down the path of trippy musical indulgence. Track 2 “I Told You So” keeps things rocking with it's psychedelic groove, impressive touches and accents painted against a grand mosaic of sound. The striking musical flow of this piece brilliantly moves like an ocean across the ears. All in all it’s my favorite piece on the CD. Track 3 “History” is an impressive electro-earthy piece that is quite dynamic, full of musical peaks and valleys that flow and ebbs its way through to emotional fruition. This piece is remarkably striking to the ears as well with its Alternative Rock touches and hypnotic vibe. As the CD slowly unfolds I can hear many musical influences reminiscent of a classic Beck, Cake, Dinosaur Jr. Modest Mouse, Death Cab for Cutie and The Flaming Lips. I would classify this music as whacked out Singer/Songwriter, Punk, Alternative Rock with an Indie College Rock flair. I can also hear experimental music with classic remnants of Dub, and Alternative Rock. The CD presents brilliant flashes of theatrical ambience and artistic perspective. You will also notice rich layers of instrumentation layered along the way full of dynamics, solo guitar, harmonies, low end beats, sonic vocals, exotic sound effects and enticing melodies. Goetz showcases impressive singing and songwriting skills throughout. His signing and guitar work are pretty solid across the board. Goetz and company have clearly proves themselves with this release. They got solid instincts. During my initial research I discovered this band is quite the hot topic live. Playing live, Love Jupiter unleashes its cosmic fury and induces the same in their audience. It’s hard, it’s heavy, it’s rock and roll, re-imagined and reinvigorated.  From heartfelt “Love Makes you Cry” and to methodical “Prince of Wales” to melodic “Snow Ghost” to rocking “Heat” this CD has something for just about everyone. The CD ends with “Temptress” the perfect finale statement for an EP of this caliber.

Though this is an impressive debut effort by Love Jupiter they need to upgrade his overall mix just a tad. Some aspects of the mix are amateurish and a bit off kilter. At the end of the day it’s a bit all over the place, however, it’s almost as if you are seeing a band play live. Perhaps that’s what they were shooting for.

Love Jupiter's latest self titled release is a compelling musical journey. Love Jupiter Rocks the house. Its strong suit is it’s amazing sonic ambience and song for song musical flow. Goetz and company get high marks from me for his brilliant musical transitions and connecting passages - nice touch. This CD will be a real joy for those listeners out there who want flowing trippy ambience to fill their sonic space peacefully and unobtrusively. This progressive somewhat trippy format makes for a great extended play experience. I recommend you just hit play, close your eyes and see where the journey takes you. This CD feels like a musical journey and will work best when experienced in that capacity. So if you’re looking for a psychedelic musical experience with sonic ambience, theatrical brilliance and a psychedelic rock aftertaste, then I highly recommend you take a listen to the latest CD from Love Jupiter right away.
