EP REVIEW:

Kosmic Daydream is a 4 piece Alternative Rock band that hails from New Jersey that initially formed back in 2001. Band members include The Kosmic Goddess (Lead Vocals), Jimmi Dylan (Lead Guitar), Adam Daydream (Lead Bass) and Jose Cruz (Lead Drums). Their latest 4 songs EP is entitled Powder Fresh and was released in 2012.

The EP kicks things off with “FYI” a catchy intro piece that sets the stage rather appropriately for this catalogue of music. This first piece wastes no time getting things off the ground with its driving rock rhythm, hooky musical flow against a grand slam chorus and infectious vocal front from The Kosmic Goddess herself. Track 2 entitled “I Feel Cold” shifts gears with it’s smooth as silk groove against heartfelt vocals and impressive vocal harmonies from The Kosmic Goddess and company. I would describe this impressive follow pieces captivating and mesmerizing. Track 3 “Monkey Train” keeps things moving with it’s thought provoking lyrical content and sizzling guitar solo that flows and ebbs its way though to emotional fruition. As the EP slowly unfolds I can hear many different musical textures reminiscent of Garbage, No Doubt, Missing Persons and even Pink. The music is extremely melodic but definitely brings to the table a lot of musical variety and much in the way of hooky melodies and catchy format. You will notice rich musical textures overflowing everywhere - from rocking rhythm guitar, driving rhythms, impressive solo guitar, lush harmonies all built upon a solid rhythm section. The vocal abilities from The Kosmic Goddess work extremely well within the confines of this catalog. Make no bones about it she‘s an impressive front woman (vocals and visuals) and delivers much in the way of emotion, reckless abandon and seductive persona. All band members play their parts extremely well song for song and note for note. Kudos goes out to some of the sizzling solos methodically woven within the music by the band – nice touch. Let me go on record to say there's not a dull moment on the entire EP. The music is rocked out and just fun to listen to. The EP ends with Track 4 “Other Side” the perfect finale statement for an EP of this caliber.

It’s hard to find any noticeable weaknesses with this EP no doubt. Typically I don’t give out 10 star ratings to EP releases. The full length release is the most complete musical snapshot to judge an artist by.

From start to finish Powder Fresh from The Kosmic Goddess is a rock solid musical teaser from start to finish. It’s an extremely consistent, catchy, and highly melodic. Its strength - it’s just a blast to listen to with songs that are extremely catchy, and marketable. The music will grab the listener refusing to let go. All in all The Kosmic Goddess combine amazing songwriting with top flight musicianship and entertaining songs that will have you wanting more.  Bring on the Full Length CD!
