New York based  Frank Palangi just released his latest EP entitled “I Am ready” in 2013. Citing from his bio: Fresh off his debut EP, the talented young artist is back pouring into the mainstream rock genre spilling out creative high energy arrangements with thought provoking lyrics speaking to the listener capturing his heart and soul.

The EP kicks things off with Track 1 “I Am Ready” a methodical and dynamic prelude of sorts that’s serves up melodic guitar driven textures, panted against dynamic musical flow and impressive syncopated culmination. This piece leads you head first into Track 2 “Turn it All Around” which serves up rock steady rock anthem dishing out impressive musical theatrics painted against melodic vocals and thought provoking lyrical content. Track 3 shifts gears a bit with “Frozen” delivers heartfelt vocal delivery, and aggressive solo guitar attack that flows and ebbs its way through to emotional fruition. Track 4 Thank You” keeps things moving with its dynamic guitar, methodical musical movement against a grand slam finale that will make your hair stand on end at times. As the CD quickly unfolds I can hear influences ranging from Creed, Breaking Benjamin, Three Days Grace, Daughtry, Skillet Music, Metallica and even Incubus. The music has everything you would expect from a dynamic Alternative Rock CD, but also touches on Ambient/Hard Rock or what I call Heavy Metal Pop that’s quite dynamic and melodic. The style of the music works well for newer rockers but may not be for older ones. Whatever your taste this EP is a highly original and refuses to be pinned down the first listen. The vocals are impressive, compelling and push the emotional envelope and imagination well The guitar ambience is very melodic and dynamic and the musical flow and ebb is highly creative. The overall vocal style of Palangi works extremely well with the confines of this progressive and ultra-clean rock catalogue. All engineering aspects check out well with Top Tiered sound quality to boot. Rhythm section - lays down the  groove. Impressive double bass action! By track 4 the CD hits solid stride dishing out many impressive songs in a row. Like a heavy weight boxer the impressive chops and amazing songs keep coming at you one after the other - with no sign of letting up. From bluesy'" Boo Hoo" to "Last Wish" (bonus track) the perfect finale statement for an EP like this. This 6 song EP pretty much has something for just about everyone.

I wish I heard more blood curling screams from Palangi, I also wish he took more vocal risks and chances throughout some of the songs. Snare drum tonality and kick drum low end frequency could use a heavy dose of steroids. I also typically deduct 1 start for EP releases. The full length release is the most complete vantage point to review an artists by at any given  point in time.

I Am Ready EP from Frank Palangi is an impressive and extremely consistent musical statement from start to finish. Its strength – the strong song for song consistency, progressive spectrum of sound and strong melodic structure that keep you guessing. The music goes down clean and is more like a high end sports car than a 1970 Muscle Car. I look forward to hearing the full length release, hopefully this Summer.
