It's so true that a picture is worth a thousand words, and nothing is more important than some nice clean visuals to showcase your bands overall look, and image to fans.  A rock solid band pic is a major selling point for any act. So having said that one of the biggest mistakes I've seen bands make is to use a simple digital camera, and have their beer bong buddy snap off a couple pics and post them online. Do your self a favor hire a professional photographer. Professional photographers are not only have cutting edge equipment, but they also have extremely good instincts when it comes to taking effective photographs. These professionals think outside the box when it comes to taking the right kind of picture.

Also set up a photo session at a place that appeals to your fan base. Places like a skate park for example capture the essence of the fan base you are  representing.
